Josh McDorman is a 2008 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'2", 175 lb frame from Niceville, FL who attends Niceville HS. Named to Top Prospect Team. Josh has a lean athletic build that projects to add a good amount of strength. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. He has good pitchability as he works the ball in and out well and really does a good job of his hitting his spots. Josh tends to throw very hard accross his body which can give the rest of his mechanics some trouble. He really needs to work on getting everything online with the plate. At the plate Josh takes a huge aggressive swing at the ball and does not get cheated. When he hits the ball it will go, but he will need to work on shortening up his swing and improving his balance and leverage. In the outfield Josh has good range and solid arm strength. He doesn't always get after the ball hard and really needs to speed things up some. Josh is a very solid student that should attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs.
