Austin Chastang is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Bay Minette, AL who attends Bayside Academy. Chastang has a large frame with a thick strong build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Chastang hooks some in back and is loose out front. He works from the stretch and has an inline delivery. Chastang gets his front hip closed and coiled well and finishes to the plate. He throws an 11/5 curveball at 70 MPH with solid shape and spin. He also throws a change up at 75 MPH with sink to it. There's more velocity in there with a couple of adjustments. Defensively Chastang showed solid actions at 1B. At the plate, Chastang starts with a wide base and has a flat path. He showed some bat speed and made hard contact later in his BP round. Very good student.
