John Lamb is a 2008 LHP with a 6'4'', 185 lb. frame from Laguna Hills, CA who attends Laguna Hills HS. He has a long and lean frame that looks young and projects very well. Lamb throws from an easy, balance delivery with a loose and easy arm. Lamb lands closed and throws a bit across his body and will vary his arm slot from high 3/4's to mid 3/4's with little change in his raw stuff. Lamb is easy to project with his velocity but he has a finesse pitcher's approach to pitching now. He'll vary the speed on his fastball from 84-89 mph while changing release points, while getting good arm side run. He threw both a big, slow curveball in the low to mid 60's and a sweeping one plane slider depending on the hitter and situation and mixed in a fading change up at 69 mph. Lamb works all the angles and has a large velocity range on his pitches. It would be nice to see him with a harder breaking ball to fill in the upper 70's gap. Lamb is a good overall athlete with some hitting ability and projects very well. Keep a close eye on him.

John Lamb is a 2008 LHP/1B/OF from Laguna Hills HS in Laguna Hills, CA, with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame. He has a nice, projectable pitcher's body with developing strength. Lamb showed that he was a good athlete by showing some ability to swing the bat and showing smooth defensive actions at first base. He's a 7.87 runner. Lamb throws from a 3/4's release point and has a sound pitching delivery. His fastball topped out at 85 mph with very good late sinking and running action. Lamb will get under his fastball occasionally and it will ride up and away to right handed hitters but it's a good, live pitch that should keep gaining velocity. Lamb's curveball was 69 mph and has good spin and a very sharp break at times. He has the release point to learn a slider at some point in the future. Lamb also mixed in a couple of 70 mph change ups. Lamb worked quickly and did a good job throwing strikes. He has an idea of how to pitch for a very young sophomore and already has solid present stuff. Lamb is a very high ceiling prospect who could be something special in a couple of years. Top Level Follow.

John Lamb is a 6'3" 175 pound 2008 left handed pitcher, first baseman, and outfielder from Laguna Hills, California who is a tall projectable kid with square shoulders and a wiry lean body who has room to hold more weight. John throws from a 3/4 arm slot and has a very loose arm and feel for the strike zone. His fastball tops out at 83 mph with good run when it is down in the zone. Occasionally he will drop down to a low 3/4 arm slot and throw his fastball in the upper 70's. His change up is potentially a very good pitch with good fade to it at 64-65 mph and his curveball is workable at 58-61 mph. Lamb has a good balanced delivery with good energy and extension out front that will allow him to throw harder as he gets stronger. He shows a good feel for the strike zone as well. John is a good sound first baseman and outfielder. He has good hands and is very sure of himself. He has good footwork and is very aggressive on ground balls. Lamb starts with an average base and likes to stand tall in the box. He is slightly open with an erect elbow. He generates good bat speed through the hitting zone and makes good contact to all fields.
