Josh Boyd is a 2008 OF/LHP that attends West Morris Central HS and resides in Port Murray, NJ with a 6'2", 160 lb. frame. Josh has a lean athletic build and had one of the better workouts of the showcase. At the plate Josh keeps his hands inside the ball well with good bat speed. He is able to go to all different fields and is a projectable left-handed hitter. In the outfield Josh shows solid range (7.12) and nice carry on his throws. His arm is strong (82) and he looks very athletic in the outfield. On the mound Josh throws from a long arm circle with good arm speed. He is an aggressive pitcher that attacks hitters and shows some nice cut action on his fastball. His off-speed pitches are advanced with a tight 1 to 7 CB and a good feel for a CH. Josh pushs the ball some and need to get more extension. Josh is a good all-around athlete that will attract attention from many mid to high-level college programs.

Josh Boyd is a 2008 OF/LHP from West Morris HS in Port Murray, NJ with a 6'2", 155 lb. frame. Josh has a lean athletic build and was one of the faster players at the event running a 7.02 60-yard dash. At the plate Josh's game is all about projection. He showed good hands with a strong lower half to show some gap to gap pop. Once he fills out more he will really start driving the ball, because most of the swing fundamentals are already there. He showed athletic actions in the outfield with good carry on his throws and a quick release. He could project at all of the outfield positions. On the mound Josh is a little bit more raw. He has a long arm cirle and somewhat jerky mechanics. Josh showed a good outfield tool set and should attract the attention of many colleges throughout the country.
