Andrew Ruiz is a 2009 C/P/OF with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Miramar FL, who attends Everglades HS. He has a medium frame and a mature build with some present strength. Ruiz has very good catch and throw tools and threw 75 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.87. He tended to get long during games but the tools are there to improve his game skills. Ruiz blocked the ball well and kept balls in front of him consistently. Offensively, Ruiz hits from a tall stance and gets his weight to his front side quickly. He showed some bat speed, especially in the games, and made consistent hard contact to the middle of the field. Ruiz has good strength for his age and could develop some power down the road with better balance in his swing. He's a good overall athlete who ran 7.07 in the 60 and can likely play other positions as well.

Andrew Ruiz is a 5'10" 170 pound 2009 catcher, right handed pitcher, and infielder from Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida. He has a mature body with good strength in it. Andrew has a good looking swing and shows plus bat speed. He makes solid contact and gets good extension with some lift in his swing. His power that he has right now is very projectable and one can see him being a big time run producer. Ruiz is a very good defensive catcher. He receives the ball very quietly and also blocks balls in the dirt effortlessly. He has a quick exchange from glove to hand which helps in his low pop times which his best was at 2.06. His top speed was 72 mph during the workout. On the mound, Andrew pitches out of a full windup. He has a long arm action and his arm works good. His delivery is very low effort and he throws across his body slightly giving him good run on his fastball at 77 mph. He threw his curveball at 60 mph with some tightness in it. Andrew is a good young catching prospect who should continue to improve.
