Jacob Brentz is a 2013 LHP/OF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Ballwin, MO who attends South HS. Strong tightly wound athletic build. Big left lift delivery, has lower half flexibility, maintains balance and direction, kicks out in front, full arm circle, outstanding arm speed, high 3/4's arm slot, great leverage when everything comes together, still working on repeating mechanics consistently. Velocity comes easily, 91-93 warming up, topped out at 95 mph in games, good movement down in zone, straights when up. Primary fastball pitcher this outing, slows body/arm on curveball, has flashed plus change action in Spring League games but not this date, development of off speed still a future project. Must improve stretch mechanics as well. Athleticism plus arm strength plus inexperience equal a huge projection and upside.

Jacob Brentz is a 2013 LHP/OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Ballwin, MO. Very solid athletic build, has present strength. Well paced leg raise delivery, compact quick arm action, hides ball well, good direction to the plate, high 3/4's arm slot, creates very good angle to the plate. Steady plus fastball velocity, lots of 94's, mostly straight but would occasionally get hard and late sinking action, spotted fastball very well to left handed hitters, fastball comes out of his hand very easily with low effort. Primary fastball pitcher, showed good arm speed on change up, flashed curveball spin and depth, showed best off speed feel in warm ups and concentrated on fastball against hitters. Very limited pitching experience, thus very understandable. Has a very high ceiling arm. College level hitting tools, big loose swing with very good extension, swings hard and has bat speed, good swing path, short to the ball, ball comes off the barrel hard, loud contact. Future is clearly on the mound but one has to recognize the athleticism as well. Will be pitching in the Perfect Game Iowa Spring League this spring. Highest level prospect.
