Blake Beyel is a 2016 RHP/MIF, 3B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Rockledge, FL who attends Cocoa. Large frame with highly projectable physicality. Primary pitcher, uses short arm action up to near overtop slot, gets downhill with good leg drive, pounds the zone with FB and CB. Delivery is reminiscent of Brad Penny in terms of tempo and lower half mechanics. FB worked 78-83, topped at 85, and showed good sink/run. Ran it away from LHH with ease. Hides the ball well and is very deceptive. CB flashes quality 10/4 break, will get a bit sweepy at times, but oftentimes shows good depth and bite. Hits from upright stance with high hand set, shows fluidity in swing, good feel for the barrel, will get a bit long at times. Can drive the ball to all fields with developing power. Fields out in front in the IF, throws a bit uphill but fielding actions are solid. Profiles best to the next level as a pitcher, though there is two-way potential here. Very good student.
