Anthony Acosta is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-9 176 lb. frame from Simi Valley, CA who attends Simi Valley. Small frame, young athletic build with remaining physical development. Quick hands at the plate with a line drive swing plane and good extension through contact. Lacks present strength to drive the ball with significant power but has the contact ability to square it up for doubles power and made frequent contact in both BP and live game at-bats. Good defensive actions with quick feet and soft hands. Good carry on throws with good transfer, sound defensive skills in middle infield. Also pitched and ran fastball up to 82 mph from a high three quarters arm slot. Good depth on 11-5 curveball with hard spin, online delivery with compact mechanics, located fastball to both sides. Good student. Named to the Sunshine West Top Prospect Team.
