Benjamin Hecht is a 2013 RHP/3B with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Effingham, IL who attends Effingham St. Anthony's HS. Slender young build, lots of room to fill out. Tall on line delivery, clean arm circle with loose arm out front, 3/4's release, repeats well and stays balanced. Warmed up at 86-87 mph on his fastball, mostly 83-85 mph to hitters, 2-seam action on fastball, consistent run and sink, ground ball pitcher who pounds the bottom of the zone. Very good change up, maintains arm speed with good life, a bit firm on occasion. Good spin on 70 mph curveball, 11/5 depth, shows sharp biting action. Works quickly and throws strikes with all three pitches, has pitchability and gets lots of ground balls. Would like to see more 86-87's to hitters but projects well physically and that should come.
