Matthew Lillard is a 2014 1B/LHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Highland Park HS. Solid athletic build, room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, high back elbow, quiet load, short hand path to the ball, high exaggerated finish with some back side collapse, will get off balance at times and upper cut, hard contact with bat speed when he hits under control, aggressive hitter with some power. Clean first base actions defensively, moves well, accurate throws. Also pitched, cross body closed delivery, tight high 3/4's arm slot, some effort at release. Mid 70's fastball topped out at 77 mph, good tailing action, good curveball spin with 1/7 depth, some feel for change, throws strikes with off speed pitches and mixes well. Very good student.
