Ethan Routzahn is a 2016 RHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Crystal Lake, IL who attends Prairie Ridge HS. Very strong and athletic build for his age, has the frame to get bigger. Fast paced multi-piece delivery, leans back at balance point, high leg kick, compact arm action, tight 3/4's release, lots going on that needs simplified, timing very inconsistent. Very good raw arm strength, topped out at 85 mph, very heavy fastball at times, will also cut fastball at different times with good effect. Slows body and arm on curveball, soft spin at present. Right handed hitter, similar swing to pitching mechanics, busy swing with effort but has raw bat speed and ball jumps when squared, will improve with less effort and more balance. Showed his arm strength in the outfield as well. Has the strength, time and tools to keep improving with more mature mechanics. Named to the Top Prospect Team.
