We did not get to see Sallinger anywhere near his best in Chapel Hill. His summer coach reports that he was regularly 82-84 mph from the left side and one of the more effective pitchers in his high school area. In early August Sallinger threw a 73-75 mph fastball that cut frequently and got under right handed hitter’s bats. His curveball was 67-68 mph and had a small, late break to it and he also threw a fading change up. We have seen Sallinger better and we will see him much better later on. Also he can hit very well. He has a nice left-handed stroke and the ball really jumps off his wood bat.
