Mark Adzick is a 2007 left hand pitcher from William Penn Charter HS, residing in Haverford, PA. He has a thin build with long limbs on his 6'5" 170 lb. frame, but has been gaining strength in the last year. He ranked #47 among the PG National Top 85 pitchers and eight months from now it is conceivable that he is one of the top 10 or so lefties in the high school draft class. Pitching from an over the top slot, Adzick has a very loose and easy arm action. It is actually surprising when looking at the gun and seeing an 88, his arm action is that easy. During his delivery he maintains good rhythm and repeats that delivery well. His arm stroke and body type make him a pretty easily projectable prospect, especially if you have seen him perform the over the last two years and know the jumps he has been making in velocity. One thing Adzick does have and always has had is plus feel of his secondary stuff, which really is so good it should not be called secondary stuff. Not only can he pitch in and out with his 87-88 mph fastball, but he does so with his 73-76 mph curveball too. All his pitches come out of the same slot and he can make a hitter look foolish. The spin on his curveball is a plus, his command is a plus, the depth of that pitch is a plus, and his feel of that pitch is a plus. Ditto for his 80-82 mph change-up. Adzick may have as much feel for the baseball as any pitcher in the '07 class. Look for him to move rapidly up draft lists in the spring time, especially if a few 91s and 92s start popping up on some Stalker radar guns.

Adzick is a angular and projectable 6-4, 160 lb junior left handed pitcher from Pennsylvania. He has as good of delivery mechanics you'll see in a young pitching prospect, with excellent balance and direction to the plate. He's well paced and stays in control of himself very well. Adzick arm is loose and smooth with no tension and very good extension. He threw four quality pitches for strikes at the showcase. His fastball was 83-85 mph and straight when up but it had some late life when down in the zone. Adzick's 66-70 mph curveball was a very good pitch, with a very sharp and deep 11/5 break that's going to cause right handers to swing and miss and overmatch most left handers. Adzick's 75 mph change up was every bit as good as his curveball, with very good deception and nice late sink. A couple of times Adzick got under his curveball a bit and threw what looked like a 75 mph slider and if he wants to further develop this pitch there's no reason it shouldn't be quality as well. The only piece missing in this equation is the strength and physical maturity to throw harder. If Adzick adds 5 mph to each of his pitches over the next few years, he's a top level draft pick. 2007 National level Follow. Good student.
