Jon Ward is a 2014 1B/RHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Chiefland, FL who attends Trenton HS. Large well proportioned build, lots of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, long rotational swing, front side tends to come off early, pull approach, creates raw bat speed with good extension out front, ball comes off the barrel hard, will improve with better direction and a shorter path to the ball. 7.01 runner, good agility at first base, sound footwork, soft hands and made several nice picks. Also pitched, long extended arm action, low 3/4's arm slot, stays balanced and on line well. Fastball to 81 mph, some arm side running action, short slurvy curveball break, around the plate with both pitches and competed. Good student. Named to the Top Prospect Team.
