Bryce Boettcher is a 2009 left handed pitcher/first baseman from Bettendorf, Iowa, with a 5'11", 210 lb. frame. He has a loose arm with solid mechanics on the mound. Boettcher has a controlled delivery, but opens up a little too soon which causes his arm to drag at times. He throws a slow 2 to 7 curveball at 58 mph. Boettcher also threw a fastball that topped out at 70 mph with good tailing action from a low 3/4 arm slot. Offensively, he has solid swing mechanics and centers the ball well. He has good bat speed with a line drive swing plane and shows power potential. He has good hands and footwork at first base with solid arm speed on throws across the diamond. Boettcher could be a tough lefty to hit as he continues to mature and learns to repeat his delivery. He is a lefty that should be followed.
