He plays both the infield and outfield and shows ability at both spots. His arm action isn't the smoothest but he shows some arm strength from both spots. He makes hard line drive contact at the plate and the ball jumps off his bat fast when centered. He made hard contact in the games and has good bat speed. He has easy HR power potential with wood. He uses his 6.65 speed well on the bases and is very aggressive. He is also a good student.

Actions raw in IF and OF but makes plays at 3B and arm plays much better from there. Has a short, funky arm action that produced a surprising 88 across the IF. Has a smooth, quick, line drive swing, he has bat speed and squares the ball up well with good instincts at the plate. Hard worker that really projects.

Chad Christensen is a 2009 SS/3B/P with a 6'3'', 180 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Washington HS. He has a lean athletic build with lots of strength projection. Christensen has all the tools to be a multi-faceted offensive player at high levels. He's a 6.87 runner with athletic actions and has a long easy stride that will enable him to take extra bases. He hits with an unusual hitting approach, starting with his hands very low but he stays behind the ball very well and is very leveraged at contact. Christensen has very good raw bat speed now and it should improve as he gets stronger. The ball jumps hard at contact and he drove some balls deep. Christensen also seems to have that hitter's arrogance that the better hitters have; he looks like he knows he's going to hit the ball hard. Where Christensen ends up defensively is an open question. He's played shortstop and third base and while he has the arm strength, his hands and feet aren't natural to the infield. Centerfield might be the best option right now, with corner outfield depending on how he maintains his speed. Christensen also pitched and showed a good balanced delivery with an 82-84 mph fastball. His bat is his tool. Christensen is a good student.

Chad Christensen is a 2009 SS/P with a 6'2'', 170 lb. frame from Marion IA, who attends Washington HS. He has extra long arms and legs and hasn't begun to fill out yet. Christensen is a 7.24 runner, good speed for a very young and slender athlete and should keep getting faster. He shows very good lateral quickness and coodination in the middle of the field and has obvious athletic ability. Christensen has an accurate throwing arm and developing strength. He could easily outgrow shortstop as he gets older but looks to have the athletic ability to play many positions. Offensively, Christensen has some present bat speed and quick hands to the ball. The ball jumps off his bat well for his age and he made solid pull type contact. Christensen has a nice live drive swing that projects some power and should continue to develop. Christensen also took the mound and threw 77 mph with a nice 69 mph change up. Overall, he's a nice looking young athlete who could really develop over the next few years.

Chad Christensen is a 2009 shortstop/right handed pitcher from Marion, Iowa, with a lean 6'0", 152 lb. frame. He has very good defensive actions for his age at shortstop with soft hands and good footwork. Christensen also showed solid arm strength with accurate throws, and showed good body control on slow rollers. He hits from a wide and slightly crouched stance with little extension. He has solid bat speed, and is very projectable at the plate. He pitches with a 3/4 arm slot and his arm works well. He has a long arm action on the back side, and throws slightly across his body which helps give him some extra life on his fastball. He topped out at 75 mph with his fastball, and threw a deceptive slurve at 65 mph. He mixed his pitches well and hit his spots. He has a projectable body and should be a very good two way prospect in the future. He is a must follow.
