Karlan Andrews is a 2008 MIF with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Visalia CA, who attends Redwood HS. He has a lean, wiry body type, on a medium frame that has some room to continue to naturally fill out. Andrews is a player that looks to be on the verge of breaking out. There is a lot he can do on the field in terms of his physical ability and he also showed good feel for the game, both at the plate and in the field. His hands work well in all aspects. Offensively Andrews has a line drive stroke and a quick bat that is short to the ball. He has a little pop in his bat and looks to be a doubles/gap hitter in the future. A slight lift in his swing suggests a hint of some future power. Defensively Andrews showed some actions and played defense with feel. He has good feet and a quick release, which ups his throwing grade higher than his raw arm strength would warrant. Future strength gains will enhance his hitting, throwing, and running and if all comes together like it should, Andrews will be a pretty heavily recruited middle infielder. He is a good student too.

Karlan Andrews is a 2008 SS/INF from Redwood HS, residing in Visalia, CA, with a 5'11" 160 lb. frame. He has an athletic and lean body, with strong forearms. A right handed hitter, Andrews hits from an open stance and stands in well at the plate. He flashes life in his swing and has the look of a hitter. Andrews has good bat speed and showed the ability to hit to all fields. He employs a slight weight shift in his lower half approach and is short to the ball with his hands. During his swing Andrews displays good balance and gets through the ball well at contact. His hand path works consistently well and overall is a good contact, line-drive type hitter. It is conceivable that he will develop a some doubles power as he physically matures. He has the bat speed and hand/forearm strength to make that a pretty safe bet. On defense Andrews showed good hands and body control. He sets up to the ball well and has a good release with an arm that works well. Andrews is a good player. He has good hitting tools and on defense he makes plays. Though he didn't make the all prospect team at this event, it was mostly due to the depth at the middle infield. Andrews is a good young player and should get strong interest from many West Coast D1 programs in the future. His bat should play very well as a middle infielder.
