Sample is a 6-1, 180 lb senior third baseman from Dallas with some present strength and the potential to gain more. He is a 7.10 runner who showed very nice side to side range at third base. Sample has good arm strength and a smooth release. Sample was one of the most promising looking hitters at the showcase. He shows true bat speed from a very fundamentally sound line drive swing that has some lift at the end. Sample hits through the ball better than most young hitters and he has the strength to get behind the ball and drive it with wood. He made consistent hard contact at all times at the showcase and there is no reason with his present approach and tools that he shouldn't be a highly productive hitter at the college level as well. If he gets really strong, then his bat could really take him a long way. Sample is also a very good student. Very good follow.

Sample is a 2006 shortstop who at 5 foot 11 and 150 pounds has a good future in the game. He projects to add lots of size and strength over the next couple years. He showed us that he can already make all the plays and swing the bat too. His abilities at shortstop feature a good glove with soft hands and a good approach defensively. He threw with 75 mph velocity that will easily gain into the 80's with time. He lacks full coordination with running yet, but we can see him being an average runner soon. He has a contact hitting swing, staying behind the ball. He is a good one that we can see getting a lot better. He has a lot of positive aspects to build on. '06 follow !
