BJ Groover is a 2006 C/OF from Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia, with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame. Groover has a presently strong body with athleticism. He ran a 7.39 sixty on a slow and wet track, and shows better speed and quickness during the games. Defensively he has a very strong arm (77 mph) with nice footwork. Combine those tools with a quick release and Groover was able to consistently produce pop times under 2.00. Groover also used his footwork and lateral quickness to do a great job blocking balls in the dirt. He is a right handed hitter who can hit. He is a line drive hitter with balance through his swing and good leverage at contact. Groover has a quick bat and good extension that helps produce raw power to all parts of the field. He has a good eye at the plate and waits for his pitch and doesn't get himself out. Groover is a very good defensive catcher who can hit.
