2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Emmott is a physically strong and fairly mature athlete from the 2006 class who looks and plays a bit bigger than his listed 5-10 height. He has square shoulders and a well developed musculature. He’s going to have to work on keeping his flexibility in the future, especially if he keeps working on his strength. At the plate, Emmott shows very, very quick bat speed with very good extension through the ball. The ball just jumps off his bat and he showed an advanced hitting approach along with power potential. Put a metal bat in his hands with college pitching and Emmott is going to be very productive. Defensively, Emmott has plenty of arm strength for third base but his flexibility work will come into play here with his hands and feet. Emmott also took a turn on the mound and was impressive, throwing 4 shutout innings while striking out 6. He topped out at 81 mph on his fastball and threw a 70 mph slurve that was very sharp at times. We’d expect that he’s a well above average high school pitcher back in Texas with that breaking ball.
