2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Michael Borg is a 2016 C/3B with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Whittier, CA who attends La Habra HS. Large, broad shouldered frame with present strength throughout frame and has a strong lower half. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, pops out of crouch and gains ground, front side opens early on throws, short and compact arm action and gets on top of throws with accuracy, arm strength will continue to develop. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow. Small toe tap trigger for timing, stays short to the ball with some uphill to plane, creates some torque and shows bat speed through the zone. Simple weight shift through lower half, creates line drive contact with balance in swing.
