Connor Speed is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from El Cajon, CA who attends St. Augustine. Speed has a medium sized frame with a lean build and room to fill. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long loose arm action. His arm works well and he has arm speed. Speed has a deceptive delivery very similar to that of former MLBer David Cone. The ball comes out of his hand clean and he projects for more velocity. Speed gets arm side run on his fastball and throws a 10/4 slider. His slider is a potential strikeout pitch if he can stay on top of the ball at release. He has solid outfield actions with good footwork. At the plate, Speed has a line drive swing path with some bat speed and extension. Good student.
