Steve Dowding is a live bodied 5'10" left handed outfielder from Canada. He showed good workout tools by running a 7.15 in the 60, and hitting 84 mph from the outfield with a quick release. Dowding looks like a good defensive outfielder capable physically of playing centerfield. With the bat, Dowding hits from an open stance and tries to slap the ball on the ground and to the opposite field and run. The wood bat is a bit heavy for him now. Better coverage of the outside half of the plate would help him be more effective in this style. Dowding is listed as a secondary LHP, but didn’t pitch for us despite showing the strong arm. He's very athletic and Steve is a good student.

Dowding is an "04" OF/LHP from Ontario. At 5'10/160 he is not a big guy. He runs OK and doesn't show a lot of arm strength from the outfield or the mound. He has very good outfield actions. His #1 tool by far is his LH bat. He showed a good approach and a smooth stroke. He's a bit rough around the edges, but he definitely has hitting ability. On the mound he threw low 70 mph fastballs that looks like he turns over. His low 60s curveball bites and he throws it for strikes. With the movement on his fastball and the big looping CB he's pretty tough to hit.
