Spenser Dennis is a 2005 middle infielder from Baytown, Texas with a medium build at 5 ft. 8 175 pounds. He has a very unconventional approach with high hands, no stride, and a wide stance from the right side. He has an aggressive pull approach, and he attacks the ball showing very impressive raw power. He launched a couple home runs in BP, and hit very well in the games. From the left side, he has a short, wristy swing with limited bat speed, but it is a developing skill with good potential. Defensively He has quick soft hands and smooth, fluid actions. He showed decent arm strength across the infield. He has good range and he made a great diving play to his left during the games. He has good overall defensive skills, and he will hit large at the next level. He is a high level college hitting prospect.

Spenser Dennis is a 2005 live bodied second baseman from Baytown, Texas, who we have seen a number of times this summer. He can be a very dynamic player, with an aggressive, attacking approach at the plate, good speed and solid defensive skills. Dennis seemed off his game in Fort Myers, though. His approach at the plate was considerably different than we’d seen at the South Showcase in Waco in late July. Dennis was more spread and balanced with less loading action. He was also much more tentative in his swings, which isn’t his style at all. Balls were jumping off his bat at 90+ mph in Waco, and he didn’t show that type of raw bat speed in Fort Myers. Dennis’ speed and defensive skills were up to standards. If he’s made an intentional change in his batting approach, we like the old style much better. We know he can play and hit at a very high level. Spenser is a very good student.

Spenser Dennis is a 2005 infielder from Baytown, TX. Dennis is a small but very strong second baseman with some very good bat speed with wood. Dennis hits out of a very wide stance with very high hands and a straight back. He has to have well above average athletic balance to hit from this approach and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else but it works for Dennis. He’s a hyper aggressive first pitch/first strike swinger who’s looking to drive the ball hard. If you’re a Division I college coach and you’re looking for someone to work counts and draw walks, Dennis isn’t your guy. If you’re looking for someone to drive the ball with authority and ignite your team from the top of the lineup, Dennis fits the bill. Several of his hits were 90+ mph off the bat. His high school power numbers support the pop he showed in Waco. Dennis profiles to second base in the future, although he made the plays at shortstop during games. He uses his athletic balance and instincts to get the job done. He runs well and shows excellent first step quickness. Dennis plays very hard on both sides of the ball and does everything at 100% effort. Spenser is a good student.

WP - Spenser Dennis is a 2005 SS from Baytown, TX. Spenser has a medium frame and build with a compact body and some present strength. He uses a very wide stance with little weight transfer with good rhythm. He uses good bat speed with a slight lift in his swing and generates consistent contact. Spenser has soft hands and good footwork to make the plays to easily handle the middle infield positions and makes good and accurate throws that is more playable at second base.

Dennis is an "05" MIF/C from Baytown, TX. At 5'8/160 he has a strong compact body. He's athletic with good running skills and loose easy actions. He was under 2 on his pop times with some arm strength and quickness. His overall ability will also allow him to play other positions at the next level. At the plate he shows a quick compact swing that creates good bat speed. He has a little loft and at least, gap type power. He also goes with the pitch and is very smooth in most everything he does. He will play at the next level.

Dennis is an "05" MIF/C from Baytown, TX. At 5'8/160 he has a somewhat stocky frame, but he shows athletic ability and runs well. Spencer is someone we see more suited as a second baseman or outfielder at the college level. His arm strength is very playable at 76mph across the infield from a H3/4 shot, and he has a smooth, quick transfer/release with an average glove. Offensively, he shows quick hands with a compact swing with above average bat speed. His swing plane has a slight lift and he shows some gap power. He also goes with pitches well. Good college second baseman who can catch as well. Spencer is a good student.
