Spencer Jackson is a 2007 SS/3B/P with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Springfield GA, who attends Effingham County HS. He has a slender athletic frame and some wiry strength. Jackson swung the bat much better during the games against live pitching than during batting practice, where it looked like he was trying to lift the ball too much. During games he showed good bat speed, with quick hands and a smooth line drive swing plane. He took quality swings against good pitching and centered the ball well. Jackson was a very consistent runner when he put the ball on the ground in the infield, running 4.48, 4.50 and 4.52. He ran the 60 in 7.33 and has significantly improved his running speed and quickness from past events. Defensively, Jackson shows solid actions, with good, balanced feet and a good ability to circle the ball. Because he moves through the ball well Jackson can flip the ball to first at times and aim it. He shows good arm strength when he needs it. Jackson also pitched a bit, touching 83 mph with his fastball with a sweeping 69 mph slurve. Jackson throws from a variety of arm angles, which affects his command but also gives a lot of deception to the hitters. Jackson is a good student.

Spencer Jackson is a 2007 SS/P from Effingham County High School in Springfield, GA, with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame. Defensively he has nice footwork at shortstop with solid fielding actions, including good, quick hands. He gets himself in great position to make the plays, and shows range to both sides. At the plate he is switch hitter with similar approaches from each side. Jackson hits with a no load approach with a compact line drive swing plane. He makes consistent contact from both sides, but appears a little more aggressive and smooth from the right side. Jackson has a quiet approach in the box with no head movement, and has good bat speed through the zone. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a smooth delivery. Jackson repeats his delivery well and stays balanced over the rubber. His fastball topped out at 82 mph and he consistently throws it for strikes, and he also throws a slider at 70 mph with tightness and good break. Jackson has good tempo on the mound and keeps his defense ready. He is also a good student.

Jackson is a young sophomore shortstop from Georgia with a projectable athletic build. He ran the 60 in 7.60 but showed good range and smooth, polished athletic actions at shortstop on defense. Jackson has developing arm strength at 76 mph and has a quick release in the field with good accuracy. Jackson impressed us at the plate. He hits from a no stride approach with some loading action and has the hand strength at a young age to create some bat speed. In fact, Jackson jumped on one pitch during the games and drove a line drive home run out of the park. His approach at the plate is very mature for his age and he’s also a good baserunner. Jackson also made a quick appearance on the mound, throwing 75-78 mph with a 65 mph curveball. He is a good student. Good follow!
