Spencer Brandes is a 2007 C with a 6'1'', 205 lb. frame from Kennesaw GA, who attends Kennesaw Mountain HS. He has a mature build with plenty of present strength and a thick lower half. Brandes is not a good runner under way but he has very good one spot quickness and the ability to keep his actions short and compact. His best pop time was 1.87 and he had many throws in the same area. He shifts well for his size and receives the ball well. Offensively, Brandes has the same sort of athletic approach. He hits from a closed stance and keeps his swing short and compact and trys to use his strong hands. He doesn't show much power potential with this approach but makes consistent contact and moves the ball around the field. He should be able to hit for a fairly high average. Brandes is also a good student.

Spencer Brandes is a 2007 C/1B from Kennesaw Mountain HS in Marietta, GA, with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame. He has a strong build with wide hips and a mature lower half. Brandes has some foot quickness and works well behind the plate shifting and getting ready to throw. He has good arm strength and had best pop time of 2.02 with 72 mph arm strength. Brandes hits out of a wide, no stride approach with a low hand set up. He has very good strength in his hands and uses them to hit. When he gets his hands extended, Brandes shows some power and raw bat speed. He'll hit the ball to all fields and is able to reach the gap. He covered the strike zone well during games. If he gets a bit of his strong lower half into his swing, Brandes could see his loft power blossom. He has the physical tools and approach to play at the next level. Maintaining his lower body flexability will be key to his future development. Brandes is a good student.

Brandes is a 6-1 right handed hitting sophomore catcher from Georgia. He has a very strong and mature body for a young player and will have to continually work on his flexibility and lower body life and quickness. Brandes ran 8.18 in the 60 and threw 73 mph in catching drills with a low pop time of 1.92. He has quick hands defensively and a nice release. Offensively, Brandes has a line drive swing plane and his strength gives him gap to gap power. He has some aluminum in his swing and could develop better extension through the ball, but he’s young and has time to develop this. Brandes is also a good student.
