Nicholas Padilla is a 2014 RHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Cardinal Spellman HS. Tall, large frame, athletic build. Pitches from a high three quarters arm slot with a short arm action. Quick arm, works downhill with some effort to delivery, online delivery. High leg kick bringing knee up to chest, tall and fall delivery featuring good use of his lower half. Good spin on curveball, typically 11-5 shape but flashes 12-6 at times, good bite on curveball and throws it for strikes, feel still coming along but very good potential with pitch, chance to become plus. Simple delivery, developing chnageup, tends to slow delivery down to throw it which tips off the hitters but the fastball-curveball combination is advanced. Very effective outing, competed well, very solid pitching prospect. hits from a slightly open stance, aggressive approach at the plate, line drive swing plane, short load, good extension. Good student.
