Tate Matheny is a 2012 OF/C with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Chesterfield, MO who attends Westminster Christian Academy. Long lean build, long legs, wiry strength with room to add more. 6.74 runner, very sound outfield fundamentals, good balance, accurate on line throws, charges hard, raw arm strength projects to improve. Narrow base hitting, high hand wrap to start, gets hands down and through the ball, has hand quickness, line drive swing, squares the ball up well, hits to all fields but best contact pulling, can reach the gaps, should keep improving with more strength. Son of former Gold Glove catcher Mike Methany, different build and tool set.
