Ben Whiteley is a lean 6'4", 200 lb. right handed pitcher from Pflugerville, TX, with some very good physical projection. He has a long arm action both in back and in coming around, plus a long, drifting delivery, so getting more compact might help Whiteley in all areas. Whiteley threw 80-83 mph with some occasional cutting action during his three innings of work. After watching him warm up, we thought he was going to be a mid-80’s or better thrower, but he seemed to lose a bit once the hitters stepped in. Whiteley’s curveball was 71-72 mph with a shorter slider break and he also threw a 75 mph change up. He has a good feel for the mound and can hit the spots. Ben is a good student.
