John Melson is a 2014 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Lassiter HS. Medium athletic build, room to get stronger, young look. Switch-hitter, similar approach and bat speed both sides, bent knee crouched stance, stays short and direct to the ball, simple sound approach, stays balanced, line drive plane, hits to all fields, should continue to improve with additional strength. Solid infield actions, arm works well, accurate throws when feet set, quick release, 7.27 runner, moves well to the ball. Also pitched, works from the stretch, sidearm to below delivery, will occasionally come high 3/4's, big run/sink on mid 70's fastball, same fastball velocity from higher release point, soft sweeping curveball, some feel for change up. Good student.
