Justin Sparby is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-3 255 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Hilltop. Sparby has an extra large frame with a thick build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. His arm works well with some arm speed. Sparby throws both a slider and curveball for off speed pitches. His curveball is a pitch he throws for strikes on an 11/5 plane. His slider is a tighter pitch that is more of a swing and miss pitch. Both breaking pitches have good shape to them. Sparby has an idea of how to pitch and showed some pitchability. His feet work around the bag at 1B. He has an aggressive approach at the plate and is strong at contact. He has some extension in his swing with some pop. Outstanding student.

High leg kick delivery, leans back over the rubber, rotational delivery with pause at the top, stays on line, some arm looseness, mid 3/4's release point. Low 70's fastball with some sink, throws consistent strikes, soft sweeping curveball, makes hitters swing the bat. Rotational swing, loose out front, stays balanced well, upper cut swing plane, some strength at contact. Has athletic actions. Good student.
