Clay Barton is a 2013 C/2B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Clearfield, KY who attends Lakeside Christian Academy. The young switch hitting catcher has shown solid improvement over the past year. He cut three tenths of a second off his pop time with improved lower half catch & throw mechanics. Contact hitter at present who showed consistent contact against live pitching. Left handed swing showed improvement but he is still more polished from his natural (right) side. Showed ability to use opposite field and to pull as well. Swing is still more polished from the right side but showed some improvement from both sides. If he continues to refine his game and improve he has a chance to be a competitive player at the next level. Excellent student.

He showed good actions on the infield with a quick release. He made a very quick turn at 2B during a game. He moves well side to side behind the plate, and handled pitchers well. He is a switch hitter with good bat speed from right side. He has a line drive, all fields apporach and made good contact showing quickness in his bat.
