Luke Hoyl is a 2013 C/RHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Parish Episcopal School. Hoyl has a medium frame with good upper body strength and sloped shoulders. Good setup and footwork behind the plate, with a longer transfer and release and good arm sterngth. Makes accurate throws to the bag and blocks well. Spread stance at the plate and does a good job of keeping his hands inside. Has some natural lift and leverage in his swing and has power potential. Good pitchability on the mound, keeps hitters guessing mixing in a 10-4 curveball and changeup. Uses very simple and balanced mechanics and finishes in a good fielding position. He's a strike thrower with upside as his secondary offerings continue to develop. Good student.
