2003 Sunshine West Showcase
Bennett is an exciting player that was one of our top players in attendance. He is a small player with a huge game. As a shortstop he has the speed, actions, mentality and arm strength to get the job done. He swings a good bat, puts the ball in play, makes adjustments and is an impact player ! He caught our attention in BP with a quick bat and good powerful line drive for his size. He used his body well with his swing, drove all parts of the field, hit the ball wherever it was pitched and hits much bigger than you would guess by looking at his size. He then went on to run the fastest time in the 60 being clocked on our laser at 6.48 and on the hand-held at 6.59. In the games, he made teams pay for not having Major League arms as he beat out infield hits and swiped bases at will. He made quick decisions and turned doubles into triples. He does the little things that tells us he has been taught the game by good Coaches and that he retains the information and uses it. Profiles as a top College prospect but played like a Pro ! Good student.
