Porter Clayton is a 2011 LHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Idaho Falls, ID who attends Bonneville HS. Nice athletic build, strong with more room for growth. Back turn delivery, lands with hips closed, more velocity in lower half, arm works quick and smooth, good angle to the plate, 3/4's release. Upper 80's fastball, touched 90 mph, cuts FB effectively, pitches off fastball location. Throws both a curveball and slider, very good CB spin, good depth, will shorten up break on slider, good feel/arm speed on change up. Very impressive feel for movement/location/spin, mature approach on the mound. High ceiling without a plus fastball, that is sure to come. Good student, verbal commitment to Oregon.
