Robert Shubert is a 2005 RHP from Chesapeake, Virginia, with a 6'3", 210 lb. frame. Shubert continues to improve, and he is noticeably stronger than he was when we saw him this past summer. He has a very strong lower half, and uses a mid-3/4 arm slot to produce college level arm speed. His fastball topped out at 81mph, while his curveball hit 71 mph, and his change up was at 73 mph. His fastball did show some nice tumbling sink at times, and he stays around the plate. We have seen Shubert in the 86 mph range this past October. He has a balanced delivery with a late unloading action to the plate. There is some effort in his delivery which does add to his deception. He uses three pitches with college level command. Shubert should only get stronger, and we think there is no reason he will not be an upper 80s velocity arm down the road. He knows how to pitch, and is a very good competitor. Robert is also a very good student.

Robert Shubert is a 6'3", 210 lb. right handed pitcher from Chesapeake, Virginia, with a solid body and strong legs. Robert knows how to pitch, and can spin a breaking ball. He shows an 81-84 mph fastball and a 71-72 mph curveball. We think that Robert also has some prospect status as a corner outfielder. At the plate he can swing it. He shows some present raw power, with more to come. His batting practice was excellent at the showcase. Robert is a right handed hitter with a wide stance and a rock back load. He has good balance in his swing with a short path to the ball. Shubert shows above average bat speed, and above average hand strength while squaring up on all balls well. Robert could be a two way player for many colleges. He is an excellent student.

Robert Shubert is a tall and strong 2005 right handed pitcher from Chesapeake, VA, with a solid big body and good approach to pitching. He uses his body well in his delivery and has a smooth and tension free arm stroke as well. Shubert’s fastball during his three innings of work in Fort Myers was in the 80-82 mph range. His slurve type breaking ball was 69-72 mph and had good biting action. Shubert struck out five hitters while only allowing one hit and did a good job of throwing strikes with both pitches. He didn’t show a change up. He's an interesting pitcher with a lot of power in his body. He could end up at a high level. Robert is an excellent student.

Robert Shubert -- Shubert is a junior right handed pitcher from Virginia with a strong 6-2 frame. He throws out of a mid-3/4’s release point and will drop down even lower out of the stretch, which gives him good sink and run on his fastball. Shubert threw 4 innings in Fort Myers and pitched mostly between 77 and 79 mph. He’ll occasionally cut his fastball, too, to give the hitters a different look. Shubert’s curveball was 65-66 mph with some big sweeping action to it. He’s an outstanding student. He can hit as well. We like the way he goes about business.

Once he relaxed and let his tools come to the front, Shubert showed us a lot of things for a junior. He is strong for his age at 6-2, 190 lbs. and swings the bat with authority and could develop good power in the future. Defensively, Shubert has plenty of arm strength to play the corner outfield positions but may end up moving to first base in the future. His bat will give him the chance to play at a very high level. Robert is an excellent student.
