2004 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Ben Foster is 6'0", 165 lb. middle infielder from Danville, Virginia. In the infield he showed good arm strength with 79 mph velocity on his throws. Foster fields the ball out in front well with solid defensive actions. He shows good footwork on ground balls and around the bag on the turn. Ben is a right handed hitter with a narrow base and no load approach. He shows some raw bat speed and hand strength. Ben has some length in his swing, but showed some power on pitches on the middle half in. He hit the ball hard in batting practice, but had some problems with pitches on the outside half against live pitching. He does have a quick bat and lots of potential. Ben is an excellent student.
