Richard Testa is a strong solid bodied 6'2/190 2005 right handed pitcher from Mesquite, TX, with two quality Division I level pitches. He has some lean back in his delivery and comes through quickly to a mid ¾ release point. Testa’s fastball was in the 85-87 mph range with very nice tailing action. His best pitch was a 74 mph curveball that had very tight spin and bite to it. Testa showed he could control this pitch real well for both its power and depth, and threw some good backdoor curves to left handers as well as overmatching the right handed hitters. Testa also showed some very good ability with the bat. He has strong wrists and hands and generates very good bat speed and power with a pull type approach. Richard is a highest level pitching prospect and an excellent student.

Testa is an "05" RHP/IF from Mesquite, TX. At 6'1/185 he he has a good strong athletic looking body. He threw very well across the infield and showed overall a high skill level defensively. At the plate he stood out with an explosive rotational swing with very good bat speed. He has a line drive swing plane and with just a bit of loft he will hit long home runs at the next level. On the mound he has a chance to be very good. He was only in the low 80s this time out but he has a nice smooth long arm action. He got nice life on the heater and his 12-6 CB was very impressive around 70 mph. The CB is tight with sharp late breaking action. The changeup was also a quality pitch with good deception and late sink. He's a very good pitcher with a quality hammer. Richard is also a top student. He can be effective at the highest levels of college baseball.

Testa is a very good looking 2005 grad with a live arm and good projectable body. At 6 foot 1 and 160 pounds, Testa showed a good strong core to build on. His arm works free and easy and he put on perhaps the best pitching clinic for an underclassman at this showcase. He sat down 9 hitters in a row in 3 innings work. He has a thicker and stronger lower half coupled with an already quick arm that produced 80-83 mph fastballs topping out at 84 mph. His curveball was sharp at 71 mph and a potential Big League pitch. He also flashed a good change-up at 75 mph but the curve was his primary out pitch as he set batters up with command of the fastball and sat them down with elusiveness of that curve. He showed the makings of a Big League pitcher with a good young projectable body. Watch him close over the next year. He is a big-time winner. Richard is a very good student.
