LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Teague is a young but physically mature freshman catcher/right handed pitcher from Texas. It’s very easy to see him play with older prospects and think that he’s with his peers. With the bat, he definitely is among peers. Teague has a very, very sound swing with bat speed and a short swing path. He loads nicely and uses his hand strength very well. Teague can top spin the ball and drive it into the gaps with authority right now and it’s easy to see him developing some real power in the future. Defensively, Teague has very good arm strength with consistent sub 2.00 pop times. He has the same type of maturity and controlled aggressiveness on defense as he does in the rest of his game. While he lists himself as a primary catcher and physically profiles at that position, it’s hard to ignore Teague’s abilities on the mound. He has solid pitching mechanics and a quick, short arm stroke. Teague was consistently 83-84 mph in Fort Myers with a sharp breaking 70-71 mph curveball that has the potential to be a strikeout pitch in the future. We’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this young prospect over the next few years.
