Spears is a 5-11, 150 lb 2006 shortstop from Poway, California with a wirey lean frame. Spears participated in this event with an injured leg. Spears showed arm strength throwing the ball 80 mph across the infield in the workout. At the plate, Spears starts with an open stance and gets closed at load. Spears stands tall and keeps balance in his swing. Spears showed good bat speed and hits the ball on the inner half of the plate with some authority. Spears showed some hidden strength in his swing. We didn't get the best idea of what Spears can do because of the injury, but with added strength he should continue to improve.
