Nick Mlachnik is a 2006 LHP/OF from Catholic Memorial HS in Waukesha, WI, with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame and some present strength. He throws from a low effort delivery with a high leg kick and hip turn. Mlachnik has a long, easy arm action and very good extension out front. His fastball topped out at 82 mph with good southpaw's running action. His curveball was 69 mph with down downer action and his change up had good deception at 72 mph along with some movement. Mlachnik did a good job of working down in the strike zone with all threw pitches and knew what he was doing on the mound. We didn't get a good feel for his pickoff move but we're told he has one of the best lefty moves around, as well. Mlachnik has a nice upside if he gets stronger and is a good follow for the next level. He is also a good student.

Mlachnik is a 6-0, 175 junior left handed pitcher from Wisconsin with a nice projectable body. He throws from a mid ¾’s release point with an open front side and a slinging arm action that has some recoil in front. Mlachnik’s fastball was in the 79-81 mph range and he had nice hard running action away from right handed hitters. His breaking ball was a 70-72 mph slider with a flat, wide break. Mlachnik did a good job of throwing strikes and keeping the ball down in the strike zone but it’s difficult to project him much in the future because of his arm action and present mechanics. But his pitching style is the type from lefthanders that is proven to get outs. Mlachnik is a good student.
