McCoy is a left handed hitting 6-2, 210 lb first baseman from Kansas who is very strong. He ran the 60 in 7.57 and threw 72 mph during infield drills. McCoy showed us big time power potential in batting practice and in games. He has a solid, balanced approach at the plate and is a patient, selective hitter. McCoy has some lift in his swing and can reach the fences with wood, especially on pitches low and inside that match his natural swing path. He should be followed very closely as a future college power hitter. McCoy listed himself as a primary left handed pitcher on the roster but did not pitch at the showcase. McCoy is a good student.

Nick McCoy is a 2006 left handed pitcher/first baseman from Blue Valley West HS in Overland Park, KS, with a 6'2", 210 lb. frame. He has an athletic body with present strength and room for more. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a smooth arm and has little effort in his delivery. His fastball topped out at 81 mph with some arm side life. McCoy has an inconsistent release on his curveball with sweeping action at times and then he will snap off a tight curveball with good break. The ability to spin the curveball is there. He has projectable velocity with upside on the mound. Offensively he is a left handed hitter with a strong lower half and takes an aggressive swing. McCoy has good bat speed with strength in his swing. He likes the ball on the middle half of the plate and he is looking to hit it hard. McCoy is a two-way prospect that needs to be followed, and he is a good student as well.

WP - Nick McCoy is a 2006 LHP/1B from Overland Park, KS. Nick has a good frame and a lean, athletic build. He is athletically proportioned with room to add more muscle as he continues to mature. He showed good reactions at 1B with a strong arm across the diamond. Nick has a quiet approach at the plate with a slightly open stance with a strong front side. On the mound he has a compact arm in the back with good arm speed. He has a deceptive delivery with good tempo and hides the ball from the hitter. Nick is a good two-way player with upside to both. He throws in the low 80s/83 range now and will throw harder in the future. Good lefty, definitely DI prospect with possible pro interest as he develops. Nick is a good student.
