Pierce is a junior left handed pitcher from Pennsylvania with a slender, athletic 5-10 frame. He threw 4 shutout innings in Fort Myers, striking out 8 hitters while allowing only 1 hit. Pierce is anything but overpowering, pitching in the 71-74 mph range with very good sinking and tailing action on his fastball, but he has well above average pitchability and command. He has two quality off speed pitches, a 67 mph slider and a 67-69 mph change up. While Pierce doesn’t have much velocity differential between his fastball and change up, it’s an effective pitch because Pierce is further changing the hitter’s bat speed at a velocity that many hitters are already uncomfortable hitting against. As long as Pierce is able to make his pitches move and spot them where he wants to, he’s going to have success against most hitters. He’s a pretty good overall athlete and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him add some velocity as he physically matures. Pierce is also an excellent student with a 4.0+ grade point average.

Michael Pierce is a 5'10", 170 lb. left handed pitcher from State College, Pennsylvania, from the Class of 2006 with a lean frame. He throws from an extended 3/4 arm slot and showed a 75-72 mph fastball, a 69 mph slider, and a 70 mph change up. Michael does show good life on his fastball with a simple delivery and a late hand break. Pierce was able to spot his pitches with some finesse and command. He'll obviously have to get a little stronger and add velocity to his fastball in the future, but is strong in his pitching fundamentals and knowledge now. Michael is an excellent student.

Michael is an "06" LHP/OF from PA. At 5'10/170 he a strong athletic body with room to grow. He is a good defensive player and can really hit. He's going to hit for power at the next level. We like his bat very much and consider it his best tool. On the mound he throws out of a high 3/4 slot with a tall and fall delivery. His fastball shows good arm side life. His CB was a bit loose but showed promise as did his changeup. He has good command of everything he throws. He is listed as a primary pitcher, but the bat stood out at this workout. Michael is a 4.35 student! Remember he's only a sophomore.

Michael Pierce -- Pierce is a 5-9 sophomore left hander from Pennsylvania with a slender lean body. He threw 67-71 mph on his fastball in Ft Myers with some late sinking action. Pierce’s curveball was in the low 60’s with a small slider like break to it. He can pitch and he throws strikes. He has room to get much stronger over the next couple years. He’s an outstanding student, also.
