At 5 foot 8 and 160 pounds Diehl does not profile as a top pro prospect, nor does he show a lot of projectability. What he did show at the showcase was hitting and catching ability. We think he can step on a field and make an impact at the Collegiate level. His bat looked to be his best tool. He showed a good quiet approach and nice looking swing. He has a short stride getting his foot down early and did not hesitate on attacking pitches. He showed some bat-speed and can easily get around on a good fastball and also stay back on good breaking pitches. He hit a hard line drive off a good breaking pitch after seeing a group of fastballs out of the strikezone showing patience and good recognition. He also displayed good defensive traits with receiving ability and a quick arm. He threw 75 mph down to second base and that was without getting optimal use from his body. He should be able to throw behind the runner with his release and arm strength. College Coaches need to watch this catcher because he plays bigger than his size might imply.
