Michael Beal is a 6'1" 190 pound 2006 third baseman and second baseman from St. Louis, Missouri who attends St. Louis University High School. He has a tall frame and a very strong core. Michael has a very strong arm across the infield which he showed by throwing 81 mph during the workout. His arm action is clean and easy and he has solid actions at third base. His soft hands allow him to make many plays look easy. At the plate, Beal uses a no stride approach and turns on the ball very well. He presently has gap to gap power with more to come. He has a quiet approach and will hit for power and average. Michael is an excellent student as well with a 3.5 gpa and a 26 on his ACT.

Beal is a 6-0, 190 lb corner infielder from Missouri who has shown lots of improvement since the last time we saw him play. He’s improved his speed and quickness significantly and is much stronger. Beal ran the 60 in 7.55 on a slow track and threw 75 mph during infield drills. He had a quick release on his throws. Beal hits from a balanced wide stance with a no stride approach and showed good hand strength and pull power. The ball jumped off his bat well on contact during batting practice. Beal will benefit from working some rhythm into his load and getting the bat started sooner in game action. He’s shown us to be a very hard worker who loves playing the game and he should continue to keep improving. Beal is also a very good student.

Michael Beal is a young junior third baseman from St. Louis, MO, with some present strength to his body. He hits from a no stride rotational approach at the plate that limits his lower half involvement and bat speed. Beal will get stronger as he matures and if he make some adjustments in his mechanics, he could develop some power and run producing ability. Defensively, Beal showed some arm strength and soft hands at third base. His biggest need will be to increase his quickness and overall body life or risk a move over to first base in the future. Interesting follow!

Michael Beal -- Michael Beal is already physically stronger than his older brother Brandon but the sophomore has a way to go to catch Brandon in skills. Michael has a tall, erect stance and very little use of his lower body in his swing, which keeps him from getting much extension. It looks like he could develop some good power with some adjustments to his approach.

Michael is a young 06 3B with an interesting bat. His defensive skills need to improve, but he has a good body and lots of time to work on his game. He showed flashes of some serious power to all fields at the plate with a good approach. Could really develop over the next couple years..
