2004 Underclass National Showcase
Matthew Scyoc -- Scyoc is a medium framed right hander from Michigan. He threw 3 innings for us in Fort Myers and threw 76-78 mph with some tailing action on his fastball from an upright pitching delivery. Scyoc didn’t show us a breaking ball or change up but did a good job of throwing strikes and letting the batters get themselves out. We’ve got a good idea that we didn’t see Scyoc at the top of his abilities, perhaps because of the time of the year. Although he didn’t do anything special with the bat, Scyoc is a very good runner with nice outfield instincts and threw 83 mph during the outfield workout. There’s more talent here than he showed. Matthew is a good student.
