2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Villone is an "04" 2B/RHP. At 6'1/165 he is thin with lots of room for projection. He could end up being 20 to 30 lbs stronger down the road. He runs just OK and has a good, somewhat side arm throwing motion in the infield. At the plate he showed an opposite field approach without much finish to his swing. He has hitting ability, but lacks present day wood bat strength. That will come in the future. On the mound he threw in the upper 70s, with a good low 60s curve ball. He has good mechanics and can throw strikes. Matt is an excellent student.
