Austin Groth is a 2012 RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from South Sioux City, NE who attends South Sioux City HS. Medium athletic build, some physical projection. Gets tucked and turned well in delivery, compact arm action, hides the ball very well, high 3/4's release, good arm out front, works downhill well. Fastball to 86 mph, gets inside FB on release and creates run and sink, works fastball down in zone and throws strikes. Flashes hard curveball spin, good bite and depth when released properly, tends to wrap and top curveball prior to release. Rare change up. Threw well from the stretch. All-State basketball player, likely hasn't been throwing much. Excellent student, signed with Creighton.
