Mark Leslie is a 2006 middle infielder/third baseman from Temecula Valley HS in Winchester, CA, with a 5'7", 163 lb. frame. He is a compact spark plug who really comes out and knows how to play the game. He has a high tempo and aggressive style which is needed to play up the middle and hit early in the line up. Offensively he is a good contact hitter with a simple approach at the plate. He gets right on the plate, but has the bat quickness to do it. Leslie shows good on base skills, and handles the bat well. Leslie has some hidden strength and ripped some balls during the showcase games, including a triple off the left field fence. Defensively he is solid with quick feet and good hands. He anticipates contact well and shows good range to both sides. Leslie has very good speed and ran a good sixty on a very slow track, and has very good game quickness. He is a lively kid with a lot of desire, and will be a good player to add to any team, and should have no trouble playing at the next level. He is also an outstanding student.

Mark is a junior middle infielder from California, with a lean but compact build. He has plenty of quick twitch muscles and is a good runner underway as well. His speed and quickness really shows up in his defensive game. Mark has very good lateral actions and good balance through the ball, with sure, soft hands. His arm strength profiles best for second base and he is the type of aggressive fielder that you'll find making catches or getting to ground balls way beyond where normal infielders would be found. At the plate, Mark shows some of his compact strength but lacked real rhythm and feel with a wood bat in his hands. He is likely a much better aluminum bat hitter right now. He looks like he's going to be a top of the order, bunt, hit and run, slashing type of hitter. Mark's defensive skills alone should enable him to play at the college level and he has the ability to improve as a hitter. Mark is also a very strong student.
