Marcus Rodriguez is a 2006 3B/1B/OF from Barron Collier HS in Naples, FL, with a 6'2", 195 lb. frame. He ran the 60 in 7.49 and looks like he's worked hard to improve his lower body quickness. Rodriguez is a very smooth fielder and moves laterally well. He has very good arm strength although his throws tend to sail on occasion. Rodriguez hits out of a spread stance with no stride and a strong, leveraged swing. He has very nice bat speed and the ball will jump off his bat on contact. He shows flashes of power now but is just scratching the surface of what he's capable of when he learns to make more consistent contact. Rodriguez is an excellent student who has signed to go to Samford. Sleeper!

Marcus Rodriguez is a 2006 3B/1B from Naples, Florida, with a 6'1", 195 lb. frame. Rodriguez showed great raw power and we rated him as one of the best power hitters at the event. He is a right handed hitter with very good bat speed and he can mash. Rodriguez shows present college level power, with more to come. He can do more than just hit for power though. He has good hands at the plate with very good bat control that will allow him to hit for a high average as well. He has a good approach, and is a top level hitter with big time power potential. Defensively he showed good range, especially for his size, and good actions at third base. He showed his body control on a slow roller during one of the games and made a great play. Rodriguez has good transfers with solid arm strength across the field. He is a strong and well conditioned athlete who projects well. Rodriguez is a must follow. He is an outstanding student.

Marcus Rodriguez -- Rodriguez is a junior third baseman from Florida with a ton of present strength throughout his 6-0 frame. He took one of the best batting practices of the showcase, demonstrating big time professional level power. Rodriguez hits from a quiet approach with a calm and long load in back. The ball explodes off his bat. Rodriguez didn’t have the success we thought he’d have in games but looked like he was trying to do a bit too much and got a little long. We’ll take our chances that he’s going to hit the best of pitchers for many years to come, though. Rodriguez is a surprisingly agile and quick fielder, with soft hands and smooth actions. His arm strength is plenty good enough to stay at third base. Marcus is an outstanding student as well. Keep a close eye on this "06" .

Marcus is a solid 3B with good infield actions. He is a big strong player with some power potential. His hands are quick through the zone and the swing creates real wood bat speed. Could develop into a big time hitter, he has lots of natural hitting ability. His arm will play and perhaps his one weakness is running speed. He is a top drawer 3B and makes the tough plays. He will need to improve his arm strength, but he's just an "06" grad, so that will happen naturally. He also pitched, throwing a lot of strikes and getting ground ball outs, he can be effective by locating his pitches. Definitely an interesting 06 player with some serious potential with the bat. Good student.
